Foxy Fashions

Our new favorite fashion den is blazing a trail for fashionistas and Brooklynites alike. Brooklyn Fox houses a wide selection of local designers and imported pieces that are sure to make your mouth water.

Cynthia Rowley Neoprene Pant

Mara Hoffman makes a bold statement with her techno print dresses, while Cynthia Rowley amazes us with her hypnotizing printed neoprene pants. If you are looking for gorgeous evening wear Tibi has you covered. Their full length silk dresses are a guaranteed show stopper, and for the girls out there looking to drop a jaw or two slip on a Norma Kamali and never take it off. We were also delighted to learn that Brooklyn Fox is an avid supporter of one of our favorite French brands, Surface to Air. The line has an effortless, but functional backbone that we can not get enough of. Whether it is a sculpted heal, or a boyfriend short with added zipper detail they are a must have.

Definitely make sure you stop in a few times a month to check out their ever growing collection of designers that have yet to break through to the barrier of the Brooklyn Bridge. We have contemplated setting up camp to wait for the whispered additions to the store’s Fall line up including; Rick Owens, McQ, Nicholas K, SkinGraft, and the list goes on. We are ecstatic for such a dramatic change in what we are used to seeing on Bedford. No longer will you have to wade through racks of “vintage” clothing that has a made in China label tucked in the back.

Bijules Rings and Pushmaataha Cuffs

And for the girls (and fabulous guys) out there with a penchant for the perfect accessory Brooklyn Fox has the hook up. The selection varies from local designers to amazing soon to be staples. Bijules’ knuckle and nail rings have the intricate pieces covered, and Australian brand Pushmataaha fuses a rock star look with the elegance of rare stones and pristine metal work.

The sleek, elegant, and simple layout of the store lets the clothing speak for itself while showcasing one of our new favorite bag designers, Angel Jackson. Hailing from the UK Jackson has a firm grasp on the statement piece. Her rooster feather bag lends itself to a couture piece. In contrast Fiona Paxton’s double wrap bracelets and necklaces contain Indian metal worker inspired detailing with splashes of electric pink and yellow.

The buying for the boutique is impecable and we just want to hug the people responsible and not let go. Owner Alexis Isadora has found major success with her award winning lingerie and swimwear store located just feet away from her new prized gem.  We at Team K avidly support anyone willing to take the risk of going against the grain not only in business but in life. Alexis has a strong eye for pieces that captivate and intoxicate. From her understanding of the importance of a classic fit to the captivating fashion pieces Alexis is definitely in the forefront of building up Brooklyn’s fashion elite.

Be juled.

If you haven’t noticed by now we at Team K live for anything shiny. It only makes sense for us to be drawn to the jewels and gems crafted by Jules Kim. The appropriately named Bijules line has paved the way for a new understanding of how to wear your favorite pieces. To those not familiar with Bijules (and it’s equally awesome creator) get ready to fall in love and into debt.

Jules Kim Modeling her Nail and Stackable Rings

Her work with statement pieces, such as the nail and single bar ring, has opened new doors in the industry. Suddenly the hard decision of which of your favorite pieces to rock has all but been eliminated. Jules mainly works with collage rings, and has been a major influence in the popular trend. Her aesthetic incorporates the use of previously forgotten placements such as her knuckle rings and “handlets” that use the entirety of your hand as a canvas.

Kim has yet to lose her wow factor and has even gone as far as to create custom pieces for close friends in the industry, and if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one hold on tight. Kim’s shock factor has been perfectly matched with one of her biggest supporters, Rihanna (don’t believe us? Peep the pictures below.) She even found her way to becoming the solo force behind the twisted accessories of the psychological thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The reasons behind this amazing opportunity can be summed up from a pull from Jules’ own website,

“Jules Kim, the creator of Bijules, is unapologetically conquering the balance of art and aesthetics in jewelry. This makes her one of those rare artists who harbor the ability to create objects that mirror the beautiful and chaotic world we inhabit: with all its humor, tragedy, ambivalence, love and hate…”

Jules Kim finds a way to put her energy and personal aesthetic into every single piece and at times it is hard to imagine her work on anyone but the artist herself. The whimsical and dark understanding she holds inside of her brings forth an energy understood by anyone, and manages to mold itself to every individual seamlessly. It is a rarity for such a strong voice to find a way to transcend a single aesthetic and customer base. This understanding of herself and the industry makes her a force to be reckoned with. Kim has charted her life and experiences around finding a truth in her work that speaks to her. Jules separates herself from the masses with her underlying belief that every piece in the collection reflects  a struggle, accomplishment, and a memory in an individual’s life.

Rooney Mana Modeling Bijules Pieces Especially Made for the Film

We are hypnotized by her amazing beauty, talent, and understanding of the human condition. Bijules has been featured in numerous fashion editorials including juggernauts like Italian Vogue, Numero, and L’Officiel. We highly suggest following her blog and keeping and eye on her steadfast progression as a staple in accessories design. We look forward to running into her at a dark smoke filled bar in paris, and picking her brain in exchange for a few glasses of red wine.

Caped Crusader.

Remember when capes were in? I think it was the same time Harry Potter came out… oh and in the 1700’s. We understand that not everything is meant for everyday wear, but please be mindful of looking like your other accessory is a broom. That being said Lara Stone can work a meat dress at a Peta protest. And we are HUGE fans of the dominatrix inspired push up.
